With the rapid rise of Mezcal, there is a lot of confusion around the idea that it is “tequila with a smoky taste.” While true both are made from an Agave plant, mezcal and tequila are made from different plants entirely, in different regions of Mexico. They are also processed in an extremely different manner which is directly what leads to the vast difference in taste.
Over the course of 90 minutes, we source the knowledge from some of the top mixologist in the world to teach each class the following:
Agave Plant: What is it? Where does it come from? How and who harvests it? Why does it matter?
How is the Agave Plant processed in each case?
How do you use each spirit differently? What are some of the best ingredients to pair with each at home?
What are some of the best, new Mezcal brands you should try?
While learning through the class, we’ll teach how to use each spirit to make 3 different cocktails (Mezcal Paloma,Blackberry Tequila Bramble, and Sourced Margarita). So education and ethanol all wrapped under the banner of “team building?” Beats the heck out of the ropes course idea :)!
